Happy Labor Day weekend!
I have some exciting news… I have been nominated for the Liebster Award! Within the blogging community, this is an award given to new bloggers by other bloggers. The idea is that more connections will be made and new bloggers will get more exposure. You can find the official rules about this award here. Even though there’s more than one set of official rules, it’s basically a fancy chain letter exclusively for bloggers.
I was nominated for this award by Sarah. Her blog is a great read, so you should definitely check it out! As part of my nomination, Sarah has asked me ten questions which I will answer below. Then, I will nominate other bloggers and ask them a new set of questions.
What inspired you to start blogging? // I have always wanted to be a blogger. Since high school I have had a tumblr which introduced me into the world of blogging. The community of tumblr always inspired me to want to start a real blog but I never had the courage. My friend Stephanie is probably the person who inspired me most to turn my blogging dream into a reality.
What’s your favorite quote, and why? // “You’re as human as me. I’m as flawless as you. Perfect is a word made up by a fool.” This actually has been the name of my tumblr blog for years. Chad Sugg aka Backseat Goodbye, wrote books of poetry that I really enjoyed in high school and this particular one stood out to me. I love this quote because striving to be perfect is both irrational and unattainable. Everybody has flaws, we are all human and this quote reminds me that nobody is perfect.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? // If I could give one piece of advice to my younger self it would be to take chances and don’t sweat the small stuff. I am a really firm believer in forgiveness and moving on to the next chapter. There is no time to hold grudges, be angry, or have regrets. I think I used to hold on to things for too long, and not take new chances. I wish someone told me that it was all going to be okay and that I didn’t have to stress so much.
What’s your favorite song, and why? // I don’t have a favorite song probably because I am so indecisive. Some days I will want to rock out to Fetty Wap and the next day I will be all about Bon Iver. I never get sick of Taylor Swift though. My music definitely changes with my mood.
If you were only able to eat one dish for breakfast for the rest of your life, what would it be? // Breakfast sandwiches. Bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel can make any person a morning person.
What’s your favorite way to relax after a long day? // I have a swinging bench in my yard and after a long day I like to sit outside and have a glass of wine. It really helps me unwind and reflect on my day.
If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? // If I could go anywhere right now I would go to Paris. It is my absolute favorite place in the world. The people, the food, the culture– just everything about it is perfect. I studied abroad there in college and would probably do anything to get a chance to go back. I follow so many Instagram accounts of bloggers in Paris and it gives me major FOMO.
What’s your favorite blogging experience so far? // My favorite experience would have to be the guest post I did for MindMeister. I tweeted at them one day and it ended with an opportunity to guest write for their blog! It was a really great experience and definitely helped me grow as a blogger.
What’s your favorite thing to cook? // I can’t cook. No amount of Pinterest recipes can help me because I have definitely tried. During my senior year of college, which was this past year, I burned a grilled cheese…. I enjoy making brownies from a box though if that counts as “cooking”?
What’s your favorite guilty pleasure? (TV show, food, etc.) // I don’t think that I have a true guilty pleasure. I love to eat, watch Netflix, and drink wine and I am not ashamed of any of it (insert sassy girl emoji here).
