Foodie Adventures: Chicago

Posted in lifestyle, Travel
on June 8, 2017

In my last post, I wrote all about my amazing trip to Chicago. While I did highlight all aspects of my trip, I left out my favorite part… the food!

We tried a new restaurant every night, and every night I tried something I had never eaten before. I would continuously say I refuse to eat something, give it a try, and then enjoy it. So in the end I learned I should stop being so stubborn when it comes to trying certain foods because I will probably end up loving it.

If it sounds/looks like we ate a lot of food, it’s because we shared it all tapas style… but also, we really ate a lot of food. We tried new wines at every meal, so it’s safe to say this was the best foodie adventure I’ve had so far!

RPM ItalianThe first night there, we went to RPM Italian, which is the restaurant of Giuliana and Bill Rancic! The food here was amazing – definitely a great way to start a week in Chicago! We started with shredded Brussels sprouts and an incredible cheese platter. For the main course, we had Carbonara and Maine Lobster Ravioli. We got both, because we couldn’t decide and wanted to try it all!

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

Cheeses & meats with rolls, jam, honey, & olives

Pasta! Left – lobster ravioli & Right, Carbonara

A Week in the Windy City

Posted in Personal, Travel
on May 25, 2017

Over the past week, I accomplished so many things that made me proud of myself. I traveled to Chicago aka The Windy City (which definitely lives up to its name!), for the first time ever. As a part of my job, I plan trade shows which is a totally new area for me. But, with the guidance and help of my coworker, we executed an amazing show this past week! We also got to adventure around the city which was a great way to end our long days of work. Read More

Moving Forward with Happiness

happiness

It’s so easy to hold onto a person or a behavior when it provides you with so much comfort. While it can add stability to life, if what you’re holding onto is toxic, it only brings negativity into your life. I have found that I am one to hold onto these bad things, both physically and emotionally, in my life. Finding ways to let go can allow you to be happier, healthier, and generally more positive.

By no means am I an expert at removing negativity and only focusing on positivity. Honestly, I am still working on all of these things and trying to remember the importance of choosing happiness, every day. This is one of those posts where I’m writing it for myself, in hopes that it resonates with you, too.

Here’s what I’ve learned. Read More

Subscription Boxes You Need to Try

Posted in Fashion, lifestyle
on May 3, 2017

I’m always a little hesitant to try out new subscription boxes. You never know what you’re going to get. One thing I do like though, is receiving packages. There’s just something wonderful about being at work all day and coming home to a package full of new things. I decided to take some chances and try out some new subscription box services.

Here are the boxes I’ve been loving that you’re going to love too! Plus, there are a couple freebies when you use some of these links.winc Read More

The Instagram Debate

instagram

I’ve been a blogger for nearly two years now and I’ve been on social media for about 10. It’s crazy to think that I’ve been using social media for so long. I got an Instagram in college and I’ve  been obsessed ever since. For most of my time on Instagram, my profile was private but once I started blogging I made it public. I debated for a while if I should create an entirely new Instagram specifically for my blog, but in the end I decided on keeping my personal Instagram and adding in my blog content. Read More

Feeling Zen with Szen Zone

Posted in lifestyle

Szen ZoneOne goal that I’ve set for myself is to read more books. It’s so common for people my age to stop reading books once they’re done with school, so I’m trying not to fall victim to that. One of my most recent reads was Szen Zone by Gary Szenderski. Szen Zone is a collection of stories which promote happiness and positive change – something I am always looking to incorporate into my life.  Read More

Why Do I Blog?

Why do I blog

When I first wrestled with the idea of starting a blog, I decided to tell a couple people. I wanted to see what people’s initial reaction would be. While many were supportive, I also got the response, “Why? What would you even blog about?” For some reason, this has stuck with me for the past year and a half. Did this person think I’m a bad writer? Did they think no one would care what I had to say? I honestly still don’t know why they responded in that way but it continues to bother me to this day.
