Weekend Getaway: Washington DC

This past weekend, I had a weekend getaway in Washington DC with one of my best friends, Nicole.We had been counting down the days to this weekend for months and it seems like it came and went all too fast! We planned this trip for many reasons but mostly because we rarely see one another since graduating college, and also because Elle King was playing a show in DC! If you're not familiar with Elle King, you likely know her song Ex's and Oh's, or her song with Dierks Bentley, Different for Girls. Elle King is extremely talented, and sounds exactly as she does on her record when she sings live which made for an unbelievable night!We also spent some time exploring Washington DC. We started our weekend off Friday afternoon at Union Market, then went shopping in Georgetown, had dinner at Mission, and went off to the concert!On Saturday we adventured a bit and went to Newseum which is a museum dedicated to news and journalism. If you've never been, I definitely recommend going! The museum showcases history, different forms of media (TV, print, internet, radio) and allows us to relive some of the most important events throughout history.One of my favorite exhibits at the Newseum was the Pulitzer Prize Photographs Gallery. I absolutely love photography so this exhibit was right up my alley; not that the whole museum wasn't, but I loved this exhibit especially. This exhibit was full of emotion, but also full of 70 years of beautiful photographs; all of which capture the most meaningful and influential moments in history.Unfortunately we had to come back to reality on Sunday afternoon, but in the morning we enjoyed a delicious brunch at Policy! We also made a stop at Ted's Bulletin, where I got some of their home made poptarts! By some, I mean I couldn't decide which one to get, so I ended up getting one of each flavor. Totally worth it!It's always so refreshing to travel, especially when you're visiting a friend. I loved spending time with one of my best friends, escaping Boston for a little bit, and having weekend of fun adventures. Weekend Getaway: Washington DC
